Software factories have an image problem. To some they’re a dirty word–an invitation to slop, to incidents, to reducing developers into prompt pushers. To others they’re the future, the answer to shipping more and the new shape of teams. Neither is wrong.
The problem is that nobody talks about what a software factory actually entails. It’s the classic draw-two-circles-then-draw-the-rest-of-the-owl. While it feels impossible to get started, you’re probably already building one and didn’t even know it. But it’s also the most significant cultural change most teams will go through, because your team’s output stops being the code and becomes the factory itself.
This session will give you a blueprint for building out your team’s factory, both technically and organizationally. You’ll leave knowing where your team already sits and what to build next. And don’t worry, if your team is not already building with loops–or is it graphs–you’re going to be just fine.
