In dark times, we are told to look for the helpers. There are always people helping, and when you see the helpers, you’ll know that there’s hope.
As leaders, people look to us. How can we be the examples people are wishing to see?
Technology is built by the people who show up. This is a talk about showing up for each other, in the work we do and in our communities at home. Our work can be quiet and unseen, but every action makes a difference. From welcoming new contributors and growing new leaders to fighting for the users or helping our neighbors, every one of us can do so much good.
From a longtime organizer in both local and open source communities, here is a call to action with practical advice about steps we can take at work and at home to make things better for the people around us today.
